Hello my parrot has really long, curled nails. Is it possible to trim them back to the original lenght? Do the blood vessels grow proportional to the nail lenght? Or just the nail grows? I'm afraid there's no way back

Styptic powder… it comes in different brands. Pet supply stores sell it. 💖🦜

I was quite nervous when I started cutting my birds nails. I would hold a headlight or phone light up to the nail to see where the nerve ending was so I would know where I could cut without making the bird bleed. This method helped until I learned with each bird the nail limit, then you don’t need the light anymore. You really do only need to trim the smallest amount off.

Thanks for the information. I now thinking of taking Ivar to the avian vet. He looks like he needs more than the tips of his nails. He also needs work done on his beak. I think the product you may be thinking of to stop bleeding is “Quick Stop”. I usually just used cornstarch as the other burns.
