I was asked by my YT community how to keep indoor flying interesting for birds! So here’s my answer with some demos and ideas. For my how-to flight training course (for indoors) check out; https://birdtricksstore.com/products/parrot-magic-11-flight-training

This video shows more of WHAT to do vs HOW to train it.

Keep indoor flying fun by:
– Teaching NEW skills! Such as flying through doorways, around corners, ascending, descending, A to B, A to A (boomerang), hide and seek, etc.
– Finding new rooms in the house to fly in, train in and explore.
– Exploring new indoor spaces (hotel ballrooms, hallways, gymnasiums, etc.)
– Incorporating new people, new places and new obstacles.
– Teaching trick flight like flying through hoops
– Flying to and from new surfaces and things

Hey Jamie, I have a round rope swing on the roof and my african gray, Robin, flys to it from my hand from other rooms, and comes back to my hand when I call her. Fly to get me, for example, a key from the table and can do a lot more, BUT I have wondered how to teach Robin to make that circle in the air, as your ara does…?
      Wishing you all the best,
      Anssi

Hi! I'm being challenged by my 10 month old Pionus! She does fine flying to a perch, but not as well flying back to me on command. If we are outside, and her harness is on, she will fly short distances to me, but further she freezes up. I want to teach her how to boomerang, but can't seem to find a good video on that to show the steps involved. She has 3 places to land in one room, but just one in the other, as I have limited space. I wish I could have you over to my apartment! 🙂 I would love for her to free fly one day, but afraid of raptors. Anyway, my wish is to have you come over and help me train her one day soon.

My macaw is doing great with all his ff training, he’s 5 months..but he’s having none of that taking off from my hand where you move your arm forward and tilt the part of the hand he is standing on..we’ve had a few small boomerangs from the window he will fly from my hand to the sink to get me to turn on the tab..drinking form a bowl is only when he has to…it’s just the tilt thing..but I’m sure it’ll come with more training..I’m weightlifting on a new telemetry kit that has radio and gps with solar for back up from micro sensory in Europe…I’m not in love with the marshal one in comparison…I’ll keep you posted if it is better or not..now in saying that I’ve never seen or used the marshal one just trying to support ppl interested in doing macaw units in Europe..I’m in Ireland..it has a harder casing and stronger antenna..and can be tail mounted I’m not in love with the back pack harness one…I want to get him out of the harness not into another …see him at http://www.BigbieParrot.com I have a parrot store with anything for parrots and parrot ppl…..I’ll be adding toys with free standard shipping…it’s been my lockdown project along with raising Bigbie who hatched on my daughters 18th birthday I got him at two months..still a bit to go before we have free flying,…he’s come off harness once but he was already very tired…it went perfectly but I won’t push my luck…..

    • @tiffanyferguson829

I had a Budgie my whole childhood he could never fly because he hurt his wing really bad when he escaped his cage and flew into a ceiling fan. Are all fans removed from your house?

    • @genericmallrat4538

Hey! If you don't your bird crapping on your stuff you should use a bird diaper. https://www.flightquarters.com/
(they also sell hoodies and bandannas and leaches) 🙂
